EFCC says both Naira Marley and Zlanta Ibile are still in custody

 

Naira Marley, Zlatan Ibile, others still in EFCC custody

Contrary to reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released Naira Marley and Zlatan, the anti-graft agency has said the artistes are still in its custody.
The EFCC’s acting Head, Media and Publicity, Tony Orilade in an interview with Punch on Saturday, May 11, 2019, confirmed that the artistes have not been released.

While granting the interview, Oriade said: “They are still with us as we are talking.”

Asked if Naira Marley, Zlatan and three others arrested with them would spend the weekend in EFCC custody, the commission’s spokesperson said: “They are still with us. When they are released, I will let you know.”

On Friday, May 10, 2019, Pulse reported that the EFCC arrested Naira Marley ,Zlatan, Tiamiu Abdulrahman, Adewunmi Adeyanju and Musa Abubakar at Gbangbola street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos in connection with alleged cases of internet fraud and cyber crimes.

Following his arrest, Naira Marley in a video which surfaced online on Saturday, May 11, 2019, has something to tell his fans about his music and how many times he’s been arrested.

He said, “Let me tell you, you don’t know anything about me, I have been arrested 124 times in England and I am not doing any other type of music, No slow songs, no love songs, just street music.”

You’ll recall that Naira Marley broke the Internet a few weeks ago when he made comments suggestive of his sympathy towards Internet fraudsters popularly known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo Boys.’

There were divergent views over his comments from Nigerians and even among celebrities. Even though he went on to explain the reason behind his comments, many felt he was only trying to save his face.

Olamide, Phyno, Humblesmith, others for Ojoto 2020 Festival

Popular Nigerian music stars including Olamide, Humblesmith, Waje and Phyno have been announced as the headlining acts for the second edition of the Ojoto Carnival. Billed to for January 2, 2020, other stars in the performance line-up at the grand fiesta include Fireboy, Illbliss, Joeboy, Peruzzi, among others.

Speaking with newsmen on activities lined up to mark the annual event, Dr. Kennedy Okonkwo, who is the initiator of the carnival and chairman, Nedcomokas, disclosed that the initiative was borne out of the joy of the season and giving back to his community.

Okonkwo, who hails from Ojoto, a town in Idemilli South of Anambra State, said his town used to be a sleepy one but since the first edition of the carnival, it has created a platform for social interaction and also given room for homegrown artistes to develop their budding talents by sharing the stage with big music and comic acts. While reeling out the plan for the second edition, he said: “We have a beehive of activities for the Ojoto Festival in 2020 comprising a long line of musical artistes, so it’s sequel to the first edition of the festival, we are making this second edition bigger.”

 

 

Burna Boy nominated for 2020 Brit awards

Burna Boy has been nominated for the Best International Male artiste at This Year’s BRIT Awards ceremony.

The BRIT Awards 2020 is scheduled to hold on the 18th of February 2020 at the 02 Arena.

Recall, he was also nominated for the forthcoming Grammy Awards that will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
